Westport Periodontics has deep roots in the St. Louis dental community, beginning in 1979 when Dr. George Kyd opened the practice in the very same Westport Plaza building we call home today. For decades, the office has been a trusted part of this vibrant area, known for exceptional care and a commitment to education.
In 1984, Dr. Thomas Schaberg joined Dr. Kyd, and together they built a reputation for clinical excellence and leadership. Beyond treating thousands of patients, both doctors were passionate educators—hosting continuing education courses that drew dentists from across the country. Their impact extended well beyond their own treatment rooms, shaping the careers of hundreds of dental professionals.
Many of the patients who walked through our doors in the early 1980s still entrust us with their care today. And it’s not just our patients who show incredible loyalty—some of our team members have been with us for 10, 20, even 25+ years. Those long-standing relationships, both with patients and staff, speak volumes about the welcoming and respectful culture fostered by Drs. Kyd and Schaberg.
In 2019, Dr. Aaron Campbell joined the practice, continuing the tradition of excellence while bringing a fresh energy to the office. With guidance from Dr. Schaberg, he quickly became a trusted provider and leader, carrying forward the vision of those before him.
In 2023, Dr. Travis Barrett joined the team as our associate periodontist. His arrival has been met with enthusiasm from patients and peers alike, further enriching our practice and community connections.
While the faces may have changed over the years, our commitment remains the same: to provide exceptional periodontal and implant care with warmth, integrity, and a legacy of excellence.
Today, we are proud to be Veteran owned and operated, with both Dr. Campbell and Dr. Barrett having served in the U.S. Army. That same spirit of service, dedication, and leadership now guides every aspect of our patient care.
When dental implants first became available, Dr. George Kyd, the founder of Westport Periodontics, was among the first providers in the St. Louis area to offer them. His early adoption of this groundbreaking treatment helped shape how implant dentistry was introduced in the region.
