A native of St. Charles, Missouri, Dr. Schaberg graduated from Valparaiso University and then attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he received his D.D.S. degree. After two years of private general dental practice (during which time he also received a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kansas), he moved to North Carolina to attend the residency program in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
He completed his residency in Periodontics in 1983, and stayed at the University to complete a research fellowship in 1984. He then moved back to St. Louis, where he joined Dr. Kyd in the practice of Periodontics in 1984. He was also an Associate Professor of Periodontics at the Washington University School of Dental Medicine.
He currently resides in St. Louis with his wife Julie. He has two grown children, Andrew (who lives in New York) and Caroline (who lives in North Carolina.)
